Scientific Scoop:

  • In dogs, daily CBD at ~4 mg/kg over six months was well tolerated, though higher doses (10 mg/kg) raised concerns about loose stool and increased ALP. New York Post+15Frontiers+15PMC+15

  • Cats show lower CBD absorption and more frequent gastrointestinal or behavioral effects versus dogs. A 12-week 2 mg/kg twice daily dosing in cats led to one elevated ALT and mostly mild effects. Frontiers+1

  • Short-term multi-week studies (2 mg/kg twice daily, 12 weeks) found that while dogs had some loose stool and vomiting, cats experienced frequent licking, head shaking, pacing, and drooling. DVM 360
